Library patrons express satisfaction with staff and building but complain the Scottsdale Public Library lacks enough books and new best sellers. A Sept 20–28 survey of 158 respondents shows 86 percent want more books while 78 percent find reading material meets their needs.
The House International Relations Committee approved sending 200 U.S. monitors to Sinai to oversee the Israeli Egyptian peace accord with a withdrawal clause if war resumes.
