Burglars Break Into Drug Stores and a Service Station

Police report burglars pried open doors at Thunderbird Pharmacy on Shea Boulevard and Medical Arts Pharmacy on Fourth Street, taking narcotics from the first and possibly from the second. A service station on Scottsdale Road was entered with $10.30 in change stolen. doors broken, safe untouched.

A five day plan to quit smoking begins Sunday at 7 30 PM in the Seventh Day Adventist auditorium 5902 E Camelback Rd Phoenix. The House Appropriations Committee backed a federal public works bill providing 14 million for Arizona projects including 900000 for planning the Central Arizona Project. Fall Weather Systems Move Into Arizona From West

A Weather Bureau forecast says a cold front sweeping across the West will drop temperatures bring rain and snow to Arizona tonight isolated snow at about 7000 feet winds to 20 mph. Travelers in California and western Arizona face blowing sand and dust tonight. The Interior Department urges Congress to back a cooperative plan with non federal entities to meet Central Arizona Project pumping needs.

Man exposes himself to girls at Hall Park Scottsdale

A nine year old girl and several playmates were approached by a man who exposed himself at Hall Park 8700 E. McDonald about 3 30 p m Thursday. The man described as about 20, five feet six inches, light complexion with light brown hair wore a white tee shirt and plaid bermuda shorts. The girl and friends were sitting at a park table when approached.

Marijuana Found On 13YearOld In Scottsdale Shoplifting

Police said two youths were caught shoplifting at Smittys Big Town on 8302 E McDowell Rd at 5 15 p m. A search at the station revealed one boy carried a marijuana cigarette and a small amount of marijuana in a container. He was released to his mother after questioning.

Judge Restores Custody of Dona Michelle Hall

Polk County District Court Judge Wade Clarke reversed a 1966 ruling and awarded custody of Dona Michelle Hall to her mother Mrs. Sandra Jones. The decision cites changed circumstances including Jones's remarriage, a steady home, and a stable family environment. Spero testifies at death hearing in gas theft case

In Phoenix, preliminary hearing resumes for Paul McInerney 21 charged with killing 16 year old William Bolich and wounding his brother David after gas siphoning dispute. Witness Greg Spero 17 Scottsdale testified he joined Bolichs night theft. Prosecutors seek 20 subpoenas including 12 police, three doctors, and a medical assistant.

Arizona legislature mulls new reapportionment plan based on voter rolls

The Legislative Joint Reapportionment Committee ordered its research director to update the 1966 plan using voter registration lists. House Majority Leader Burton Barr voices doubt the federal court would approve but calls the plan the best option. A federal court previously found the 1967 plan unconstitutional and required a new plan before the 1970 elections.

Stock Averages Slip as Dow Jones Down on Tuesday

The Dow Jones industrials fell 3.43 to 808.41 with declines across utilities and the overall market. Railroads rose 0.15 to 196.07 and utilities gained 0.87 to 111.36 as 65 stocks averaged 273.69, down 0.11. Sales traded at 12.41 million shares versus 11.43 million on Thursday.
