Divorce rate myths undercut by 1970 figures says expert
Michael Gordon PhD argues that the 0.5 percent rise in divorces over 50 years reflects changes in law and gender equality. He notes the 50 percent figure is misleading, as it's calculated from yearly divorces over yearly marriages and ignores those married in prior years. He frames marriage as a relationship based on equality rather than economic necessity.
