Doctors at Fort Gordon Army Hospital report former President Dwight D. Eisenhower is in satisfactory condition after a heart spasm and a later, more intense episode of acute coronary insufficiency. They will treat him as if he had suffered a heart attack and monitor for further chest pain.
Scottsdale philanthropist Lewis J. Ruskin will be honored at the Phoenix Towne House Hotel during tomorrow night’s homecoming dinner dance as the 18th annual Alumni Appreciation Award recipient for decades of service to Arizona State University and the Phoenix area. The award cites his donations of Renaissance and Baroque artworks to ASU and his role in securing the Frank Lloyd Wright design for the Grady Gammage Auditorium alongside ongoing support for the university’s fine arts program.

By midmorning nearly 50 donors contacted the American Cancer Society and about a dozen had given blood at Southwestern Blood Bank. Donations directed to Lorrie Snyder will replenish blood supply and support the operation at Good Samaritan Hospital.
President Johnson reportedly urged his daughter Luci Baines and her fiancé Pat Nugent to postpone their engagement after a family conference at the L and J ranch. Nugent plans only a six month Air Reserves service starting November 28. the President believes Luci is still too young.
