Israeli air raids widen in Gulf of Suez amid Cairo talks

United Press International reports Israeli warplanes conducted a second day of raids in the Gulf of Suez targeting central sector near the Suez Canal. Cairo says the attacks failed to inflict losses while Egypt claims heavy damages from a previous Saturday naval assault on Sinai.

Record 190,073 Eligible for Phoenix Primary Vote

Phoenix voters face a record 190,073 eligible to vote in the city primary, announced by elections supervisor Donna M. Culbertson. She notes the figure tops 1965's 188,092 and forecasts at least 40 percent turnout, with more than 85,467 needed to beat the prior turnout.

Watch and rings stolen in two Scottsdale burglaries

A watch and two rings valued at 1300 dollars were stolen from Earl Owen at 631 E. First Ave. between 11 p.m. Sunday and 3 50 a.m. today after burglars entered through an open window. Burglars also took more than 450 dollars worth of bedding clothing and household items from B M Crutchfield at 7411 E Almeria between 6 30 p.m. Friday and 6 20 a.m. Saturday with a forced bathroom window and a kitchen door noted.

Auto collision injures driver at 78th Street and Garfield

Andrew Novarro, 1 of 7740 E Latham was treated and released from Scottsdale Baptist Hospital after a two car crash at 3 30 p m Sunday. His car collided head on with a vehicle driven by Mark Thadden 16 of 7844 E Beatrice Thadden was cited for failure to control.

McIntyre votes against Haynsworth Supreme Court confirmation

UPI reports Senator Thomas J. McIntyre of New Hampshire will vote against Supreme Court nominee Clement F. Haynsworth. The decision narrows firm support to 44 against 37 with 19 undecided as Senate debate looms.

Car Fire Behind Scottsdale Address Ruled Stolen Vehicle

Rural Fire Department reports a car behind 4710 North Scottsdale Road burned at 2 01 am causing 1800 dollars in damage. Police say the vehicle was stolen. Fire crews also investigated an apparent electrical short at the KDOT radio transformer 2825 North 64th Street at 5 28 pm Sunday and asked the station to arrange repairs.
