Construction begins early next week on a 219 lot Scottsdale subdivision near Granite Reef and Jackrabbit roads. Homes priced from 14 500 to 19 000 with six model homes and six elevations. Keith of K B Construction Co says project valued at 3 750 000 and financing options include VA or FHA.
Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce museum committee selects the title Scottsdale Arts and Crafts Center for the city’s forthcoming museum. Paul F. Haldermann notes the six member panel chose from public input and plans emphasize Spanish Mexican and Indian contributions alongside professional and amateur displays shaping Valley of the Sun culture.
Pima Elementary hosts an open house, book fair, and Veteran Day program to mark National Education Week. The event opens at 7 30 p m in the cafeteria with student speeches and songs, classroom visits, and book displays.
The county hospital medical director backed intern Dr. William Fathauer, who discharged a 41 year old Scottsdale patient hours before she died unattended in a Phoenix rooming house. Dr. Taber called it an unfortunate case and found no forewarning of death. The patient’s rooming-house caregivers protested care after discharge. Police and the medical examiner took no detailed investigation.
Scottsdale's new Executive House Arizonian, a 212 room resort hotel on 16 acres, celebrates its public grand opening Sunday after two weeks of operation. The $3 million project includes a 73 466 square foot center garden with two pools a putting green and a covered patio. The La Boca Lounge offers cocktails and dancing.
Washington reports Kennedy officials aim to lift annual defense spending toward fifty billion dollars to maintain supremacy over the Soviet Union. Advisers push for higher budgets as Kennedy vows to seek more funds in January and a July start for the new defense blueprint tentatively envisions about fifty billion dollars.

FBI disaster squad identified victims while families mourned. The plane had stops at Wilkes-Barre Newark and Baltimore on the way to South Carolina.
