The 1985 Arizona State Fair began with Kids Day greetings as 5 060 youngsters received free midway tickets. The 10 day event features Plaza Grandstand theater shows, Ice Follies at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum, and a parade schedule. About 9 000 exhibitors including 334 commercial ones set up displays, with more than 50 bands and dozens of acts. Last year drew 365 611 attendees. organizers expect 400 000.
