A variegated ivy growing on Scottsdale’s municipal court building proved to be more than decorative as roots and tendrils damaged brick and woodwork and even reached the courtroom. City crews removed the plant this past week and plans call for repainting and new landscaping without climbing vines.

Ground to Break June 15 on $500000 Scottsdale Hospital Annex
Ground will be broken June 15 for a $500000 addition to the south of Scottsdale Baptist Hospital. Hal Grammer Construction Co of Phoenix was the low bidder with Theom pany winning the award over 34 firms at $500698. Architects estimated $497000. Earl Eddins said financing comes mainly from a Guaranty Bank loan commitment with some operational funds. The two story wing will house 16 patient rooms with six beds on the second floor, each with private baths and showers, and future footing for three more floors.

A 21 year old go go dancer from Cross Cut Canal drowned early today after her small car crashed into a fan abutment on Indian School. Unidentified men rescued the victim from the canal, but she did not survive.

Attorney to appeal court martial of Houston Marine
