Bomb blasts rock campus and state capitol
Two blasts rocked the Louisiana state capitol lawn and LSU campus before dawn. Three people were hit by flying glass with no serious injuries reported. A five by three foot hole opened on the capitol lawn near Huey Long statue. Police detected gunpowder smoke at Alex Box Stadium. A white metallic substance was found at the capitol tree base. Separately, about 200 torpedo bombs were found abandoned near Opelousas labeled California destined for Lake Charles. Officials said no link to Baton Rouge blasts.
