Nixon rejects resignation and 25th Amendment offer
President Nixon told Kilpatrick in the Oval Office that resigning would be wrong and he would not step aside under any circumstances. He ruled out the 25th Amendment and said he could not temporarily cede duties, even if impeachment proceeds. The interview followed subpoenas for Watergate tapes as the Judiciary Committee met to press the inquiry.
