IRS aims to issue windfall to two million taxpayers
The IRS says more than two million Americans may qualify for the earned income credit for 1975. Up to $400 per person could be paid as a refund or to reduce taxes owed. Only about 300,000 had filed to claim the credit by the filing deadline, with $1.5 billion set aside for payments. Eligibility requires earned income of $8,000 or less and at least one dependent child.
