U S Troops Repulse Full North Vietnamese Division

U S and South Vietnamese forces reportedly repulsed a major North Vietnamese division at Dong Ha after ten days of fighting. The clash near the DMZ left significant casualties on both sides, with 78 U S troops killed and hundreds wounded, alongside allied losses.

Fire damages total $3,000 in Scottsdale apartment blaze

Rural firefighters battled two major alarms yesterday in Scottsdale. Annie Meliikoff's apartment at WEN 70th St Apt 2 suffered $3,000 damage from a bedroom fire likely caused by a cigarette. smoke damaged the unit though no injuries were reported. A second alarm involved a broken gas line near Bousteiro pipeline activity. a cat was rescued from a cooler before being freed. Firefighters also assisted in retrieving a package from a canal near 68th St and Lafayette Ave after police advised it had already been retrieved.

Walter Coleman 69, retired silos engineer for Arizona Portland Cement, died at a hospital in Phoenix. Benefit Enables 190 Children On Sail River Reservation to See The Daydreamer

Nearly 190 children from the Sail River Indian Reservation attended a Hans Christian Andersen film benefiting the Arthritis Foundation. The Kappa Delta Alumnae Association organized the $1 tickets at the Kachina Theatre on Scottsdale Road with sponsor S donations from a Villa Monterey resident. The event followed a Progress Woman's Page feature about Lesley Mosher, a 2½ year old with rheumatoid arthritis. In Phoenix, donations supported by Salt River commedians and the Tribal Council helped arrange the visit, a first theatre trip for many youngsters.
