Open Meeting Bill Advances in Arizona Senate Panel
The Senate Government Committee approved a bill to strengthen open meetings laws, banning secret votes and requiring roll calls on final actions. The panel rejected adding party caucuses to governing bodies 5-4, with James Osborn arguing caucuses are not governing bodies. The measure likely heads to a floor vote soon and onward to the House, which may resist universal roll calls in committee.
