The Arizona Court of Appeals reinstated higher tax valuations on more than 4000 acres owned by Scottsdale developer George R. Herberger. The panel backed Maricopa County Assessor Kenneth Kanes, reversing a Superior Court ruling and upholding under assessment claims. An affected parcel near Carefree had been cut from 275 to 7 dollars per acre, with grazing use rejected as cattle have not been on the land since 1965.
