61-year-old Scottsdale man jailed after obstructing officer
Wallace Bryan Wilson 61 of 6702 E Cholla was arrested at about 5 p.m. Thursday for obstructing an officer and lacking a valid license after he demanded an officer's badge number and later refused to leave. A six member U S Navy board of inquiry wrapped up three weeks of hearings in Subic Bay Philippines into the collision of the USS Frank E Evans with the Australian carrier Melbourne. The board will call no more witnesses and will draft its report. The Evans bow was ripped off and the ship sank with 74 sailors dead. The Melbourne will need six months of repairs in Australia, with the aftersection of the Evans to be sunk. Final witness Lt Cmdr George L McMichael and Lt Cmdr Ronald C Ramsey testified on the ship's handling and crew readiness.
