Court rules against AFT in Scottsdale school suit
Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Yale McFate ruled for the Scottsdale School Board in a $100000 case brought by the American Federation of Teachers. The union sought back pay claiming 904 teachers were owed for three noncovered days May 27 to 29 during the 1968-64 contract period. The judge said the contract defines a nine month period and 180 days, not a fixed day count, and noted teachers taught 178 days in the 1983-64 period.
