Freight Train Strikes Bus At Crossing In Pekin
A freight train collided with a loaded passenger bus at a crossing in Pekin Illinois today. The impact ripped open the bus side and dragged it about 40 feet along the tracks, officials said. City Council Plans Action On Two Rezoning Petitions
The council will act on two rezoning petitions tomorrow. One covers Rogers Lane Indian School and Camelback Hayden Road with right of way dedication for apartment zoning. Scottsdale to hold budget hearing on 1961 62 plan
Scottsdale city council will host a public hearing on the 1961 62 budget tomorrow at 8 p m in the Municipal Building. The published budget totals 86 718 in expenditures within a total next year spend of 1 407 595. State law allows only a 10 percent increase, 86 718, with the remaining 886 130 needing state tax commission authorization. Further hearings will address spending of that money with items listed for building maintenance city magistrate and accounting city attorney city clerk fire department city engineer miscellaneous city manager and community promotion building inspection parks and recreation and other allocations. The overall budget allocates 972 848 to general fund departments and anticipates revenues of 1 003 475.
