Wreck injures 5 persons in Scottsdale chain reaction

A three car rear end collision at 6599 E Thomas Rd Scottsdale at about 2 a m injures five occupants. Bonnie Murphy 17 and Monica Regan 17 drive the first two cars. Debbie Murphy 16 Cherie Murphy 13 and Donna Weber 16 are treated at Scottsdale Baptist Hospital. Kathleen Regan 18 and Florence Regan 40 in the Regan car are also injured with Mrs Regan admitted. No citations issued.

Poor People's Mule Train Arrives for Campaign Day in Washington

In Alexandria Virginia the 135 riders and 38 mules from the Deep South join the Poor People's Campaign. They rest at a Gainesville camp before a planned capital demonstration with about 40 000 participants. The train traveled from Atlanta by rail after visiting Dr Martin Luther King Jr’s grave.

Scottsdale Traffic Court Fines Highlight Reckless Driving and DUI

A Scottsdale City Court session fined a 33 year old man, Amedeo Moretti, for reckless driving and a Phoenix driver Manuel Pena, 32, for driving under the influence. A 121 man Viet Cong and North Vietnamese force surrendered to South Vietnamese Marines on the Saigon outskirts, described as the war’s largest mass surrender. Arizona's total personal income rose 7.4 percent in 1967 to 4.4 billion, a gain of 303 million, marking the 23rd straight year of growth. Per capita personal income hit 2681, up 137 per person, according to Valley National Bank.

Obituaries: Dilman Smith and George Coble

Dilman Smith aged 65 died Monday in Scottsdale Baptist Hospital after moving to Scottsdale from Princeton New Jersey. He was vice chair of Opinions Research Corporation and is survived by wife Helen daughter in law Stephen Ream two brothers a sister and two grandchildren. Services Saturday in Messingers Chapel burial in Princeton New Jersey. George Coble aged 70, retired Birmingham News circulation manager, died Sunday at Mesa Lutheran Hospital after moving to Scottsdale nine months ago. He is survived by Esther his wife a Scottsdale daughter and extended family. Services will be held in Birmingham with viewing in Meldrum Mortuary Mesa Arizona.
