A crowd of 1000 to 1500 Negro and white participants marched from Eastlake Park to Phoenix City Hall to present grievances to state county and city officials. Led by Rev. George Brooks and Lincoln Ragsdale the protest was orderly, with signs reading jobs not charity and equal opportunity, and ended with speeches and a return to Eastlake Park.

chlorine gas leak at Reading pool injures dozens
A chlorine tank at a city pool leaked sending deadly fumes through a crowded facility in Reading. Forty nine people were treated at three hospitals including a child in critical condition and an adult in serious condition. Police said Andy Stopper, Reading High athletic director, was adjusting a valve when the valve burst.

Jury Selection Starts Trial Of Club Managers
The jury trial of two country club managers charged with being drunk and disorderly slugging an officer and resisting arrest began in Scottsdale city court. George Harrington of Arizona Country Club Scottsdale and Richard P. Haynes of Tucson Country Club face the charges after an incident at the Safari Hotel nightclub. A six member jury was impaneled and opening statements were made. Bond for each defendant was set at 300 dollars. Suit Filed Over Leased Auto Charges in Hawaii
