Mexican Work Rule Changes See As Minor
Imperial Valley leaders say tighter U S rules allowing Mexican workers to enter will have little effect on local farming. Clerks domestics and mechanics in the valley may face more uncertainty while farm labor remains covered under existing programs. The rules require job offers to be endorsed by the local state employment service and apply to daily commuters from Mexicali rather than farm workers.
