A 20‑man CBS Television crew from New York and Los Angeles arrives to film the Parada del Sol rodeo for a three day event. The sanctioned Rodeo Cowboys Association competition begins this afternoon with contestants earning points toward national honors. the show is expected to air about two weeks later.
The Cherokee School marching band faced a neighbor complaint over noise during Parada del Sol preparations. Principal Maria Borsch said rehearsals moved from 8801 N 56th St in Paradise Valley to Cocopah School due to a nuisance ordinance. Weather forecast shows variable clouds and cool temps with a 10 percent rain chance.
Parada del Sol weekend features a three day lineup starting today with a 10 am parade and more than 300 units making it the world’s longest horse drawn parade. Celebrities include Rory Calhoun and Rusty Draper with the Arcadia High School Titans Marching Band serving as official parade band. Tickets listed: bleacher seats $1.50.

City officials announce a CAP water contract hearing at City Hall Kiva aimed at deciding if the city should contract for CAP water. The 8 pm session will not debate the entire CAP issue, and testimony is time limited with five minutes per individual and ten minutes for groups. Written comments are accepted until noon Tuesday, and a council vote is expected Tuesday night.
Scottsdale Federation of Teachers proposes about 2.7 million in budget cuts to fund a 15.1 percent cost of living raise for 1975-76. Larry Bell cites 150000 in new cuts plus 650000 last week and 950000 in new money next year to cover roughly 2000 per teacher. The district board offered 1000 across the board for two years costing 1.3 million, with 1 million in cuts planned, including eliminating district teaching positions and admin offices. The SFT, representing nearly 1300 teachers, rejects the offer and pushes for cuts to meet the salary demand.
