Deep digging and care urged for roses in Arizona
Nursery manager Jim Wills of Arizona Beautification Company in Scottsdale advises planting roses in holes at least two and a half feet deep with one third peat moss, a raised root cone, and buds one inch above ground. He warns of dry roots, poor drainage, alkali soil, and construction debris, and stresses buying bare root roses from trusted nurserymen and proper pruning techniques.
