A. W. Zelemek Associates says securities should show a comparatively favorable outlook in the coming months as the domestic economy stabilizes. The firm cautions the upturn is small but foresees further gains over a period of months while Wrights Investors Service envisions a long bull market after an earlier January upswing and spring pullbacks. The Dow Jones index could reach 1250 to 1550 by year's end.

Live cattle 38.60, hogs 41.57, pork bellies 62.22, eggs 53.8 cents up 0.95. potatoes 3.85 down 0.70. cotton 3.0 cents, plywood 112.20 up 2.90. sugar 35.25 cents down 0.17. Market not yet closed on some items.
The Dow Jones index shows gains in Industrials up 5.24 to 664.03 and Utilities up 0.16 to 78.03 while Transports dip 0.08 to 153.11 and Stocks rise 1.05 to 216.55 at midday.
Gold opened at 182 an ounce in Zurich after a $5 rise over the weekend. London dealers marked 181 at the morning fix while U.S. dollar weakened in Paris and Brussels, with talks of a prior December rush fading from 200 to 169 dollars per ounce.
Arizona State University hosts the Solar Utilization Now course led by Dr. Byard Wood and Jeffrey Cook. The five day program concentrates on solar heating and cooling of buildings with workable methods. About 70 attendees and eight national experts join the ASU team for lectures and hands on workshops.
A 12 week course titled Fundamentals of Tax Preparation will be taught at Scottsdale Community College on Monday nights from 8 to 10. The IRS designed the course and provides text covering individual and business tax returns. Final session describes IRS processing audits and appeals. Instructor is Scottsdale resident Joseph Benton. Fee is $25.
