World of Art festival opens at Los Arcos Mall Scottsdale
The 12th semi annual World of Art festival runs today through January 19 at Los Arcos Mall in Scottsdale. Nearly 60 exhibitors from eight nations and 15 states include painters printmakers sculptors wood carvers and potters with artists Rich Miller Charles Blaylock and De Keukelaere among them.

Art winner prize item includes denim jacket with metal studs
The first prize winning piece in the contest is a Levi’s denim jacket decorated with 11 pounds of silver brass and jewel toned studs a police whistle a removable ashtray a desk belt and trims. Designer Bill Shire a 23 year old Los Angeles belt maker known for rock musician clients. The show traveled from New York to San Francisco Los Angeles and Madison before opening at ASU January 15. Viewable weekdays 10 am to 5 pm Sundays 1 to 5 pm.

Valley artist frames antique wood into durable art pieces
Prescott craftsman James Spencer creates frames from lumber salvaged from over 100 year old barns and post office shafts across the state. Each frame uses eight wooden pieces doweled together for strength. His shop HAIR at 7120 E Indian School hosts Spencer and showcases Southwestern artists Nancy McLaughlin Ron Stewart and Spencer himself.
