The Maricopa County Reorganization Committee voted seven to oppose repealing school redistricting legislation with two absentees. The panel warned repeal would cost over 100000 dollars in redistricting reports, waste time, and hurt Arizona students. The committee cited safeguards against arbitrary redistricting and noted Senate interest may grow as repeal moves forward.
United Press International reports that the big rebate programs end today and it remains unclear if they boosted sales. Automakers may replace rebates with small price cuts achieved by removing standard equipment and offering it as optional.
In Washington President Ford reportedly supports transferring the Navy underground oil reserves to the Interior Department. House Public Lands panel chair John Melcher said the president signaled an unofficial switch after approving a bill to shift jurisdiction.
