Arizona retail sales rise despite copper strike impact

Arizona retail sales climbed 3.8 percent last year to 2.7 billion dollars, up 101 million from 1986, according to Valley National Bank. Firemen Free Boy From Ring After Rescue at Station

Lloyd Thompson seven of 7747 E Pinchot walked into the fire station on Brown Avenue yesterday and asked for help removing a ring from his finger. Firemen cut the ring and freed him after other methods failed. In a second call, they extinguished an illegal trash burn at 59th Street at 2:32 a.m. No citation issued.

Kennecott and unions meet for first negotiations

Kennecott Copper Corp and striking United Steelworkers met in Salt Lake City for initial talks after months of walkout that idle three copper mines. Roof collapse in Indian village kills women and children

In Munirka near New Delhi, a mud roof gave way during a folk dancing exhibition injuring 12 others. A woman and a dozen children died in the accident as 25 spectators had crowded the roof.

Cadet Speasl case faces objections in academy court martial

Air Force cadet Paul David Speasl of Tucson is charged with armed robbery of a Colorado Springs liquor store and multiple thefts at the academy. Defense counsel Maj. Richard R.
