Rescuers Free Trapped Digger After 15 Hour Buried Ordeal
Rescuers freed Raymond Fink of Athens Wisconsin after 15 hours buried to his shoulders in a sandy pit eight feet underground near Lake Tomahawk. His brother Lawrence dug with bare hands as cave-ins buried him to the neck. Traffic was halted along nearby railway tracks until the danger passed. Fink, tended at Woodruff hospital, remained in good condition and received last rites at the scene.
