Super slurper absorbs water vastly beyond prior materials
In Peoria area research, a USDA backed graft copolymer named super slurper links acrylonitrile to starch to create a colorless gel that soaks water to many times its weight. Developed 1973 by five chemists, it shows potential in agriculture, oil recovery, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, towels, and more with expected markets of 750 million to one billion pounds annually.
