The Parada del Sol in Scottsdale began as the Sunshine Festival on Main Street in 1951. Two years later the Scottsdale Jaycees transformed it into a multi event celebration featuring a rodeo, shoot outs, a rodeo queen and a Western dance drawing thousands each year with a weekend parade at 10 a.m. today and a continuing rodeo this afternoon tonight and tomorrow.
