Enrollment dip forces Tucson school closings
Tucson School District 1 plans a reorganization and closure of several schools after a 5 percent enrollment drop in three years and an expected 10 percent decline by 1980. The district, Arizona's largest, has 60,408 students and faces nearly 1.4 million dollars less state aid this year. Inner city schools with the lowest enrollments will be targeted first as options include a proposed middle school to serve western area seventh and eighth graders.
