City of Phoenix backs questionable auditorium deal
The city approved a controversial agreement with a paperless, nonfinancial entity for a downtown auditorium. The plan entails the city financing site acquisition and upfront plans, a 40 year sublease, and potential future expansion while alleging no guaranteed reimbursement or clear site. Officials and taxpayers face uncertain costs and legal challenges over legality and financing.
