Scottsdale voters face an 85.9 million bond to fund growth driven construction through 1968. Polls run 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 16 places with a record turnout anticipated after extensive outreach by the Citizens Advisory Committee, officials, and trustees.
Voters may cast ballots at 16 polling sites including Hohokam Kaibab Kiva Soloma Mohave Navajo Paiute Pima Supai Tonaloa Yavapai Coronado Scottsdale and Scottsdale High Schools plus Ingleside Kachina and Tavan schools and 2 others. Polls run 6 am to 6 pm with residency and property taxpayer status required. A $5.9 million bond aims to address overcrowding while officials stress no tax increase is tied to passage. defeat could raise costs through higher operational expenses. Baby-sitting and transport services are available via the PTA for voters.
An explosion and subsequent fire leveled the Sportcraft Trailer Manufacturing Co. plant at 211 West 8th Street Tempe injuring one worker Ronald Cox 23 of 593 Roosevelt. The blaze caused roof and wall collapse and heavy damage estimated at 200000 dollars. Several large mobile homes were destroyed.
