A planning meeting for senior citizens aid is set for Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Scottsdale Presbyterian Church on Hayden Road. Organizers from Scottsdale Ministerial Association, United Presbyterian Church, STEP Committee, and the city coordinator invite volunteers to help provide recreation, employment, legal aid, and transportation services.

Burglars steal mink coat and more in weekend spree
Police report seven burglaries over the weekend with total losses exceeding 3800 dollars. Items include a mink coat wristwatch checks from Edwin D Herriman residence and stereo tapes and TV from Uniroyal Tire Co. Also stolen were a ring TV and clothing from Gene Recalde home and revolvers, cash, and liquor from several other sites. Three juveniles were later turned over to guardians after stealing note pads from Seth Homes Development Corp. site.

Airliner Strikes Seagulls During Sydney Takeoff
A Pan American Boeing 707 carrying 136 aboard struck a group of seagulls on takeoff from Sydney International. The aircraft lost power in two engines and veered off the runway but none were seriously injured. two passengers received flight shock treatment. Passengers evacuated by emergency chutes. Flight 812 was en route to Honolulu Los Angeles and New York.

A three car crash and two two car accidents injured four people Saturday and Sunday. Johnnie H Casey 65 was cited for failure to yield after his car struck Moore. A third two car crash at 1313 N Scottsdale Rd injured Robert Buckmann 25. his car rear ended by Leon J Williams and Judy J Lehman 22. all three cars were northbound. Williams cited for failure to yield.

Rider injures details after fall from horse near Telegraph Pass
Mrs Harold Ritter 60 of 8402 E Redwing was flown from South Mountain by helicopter after a horse stumble left her with a broken arm possible back and shoulder injuries. Arizona Mountaineering Club members reached the isolated site to assist before she was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital.
