An engineering report warns existing water supplies may be insufficient for the proposed 58 000 person 25 square mile development north east of Scottsdale by 2000. City officials say CAP water expected by 1985 could supplement supplies and support the project.
Irrigation water floods the parks surrounding Ci vic Center Plaza as the sunken parking lot west of the Scottsdale Police Department fills with water. Concrete walls hold back the water while cars sit submerged in the lot.
Egyptian paratroopers overpowered hijackers aboard a Cairo Luxor flight, freeing all 96 passengers without injuries. Six hijackers, five Libyans and two Algerians, allegedly demanded five Egyptian prisoners’ release and fuel for Libya as part of the Abdel Nasser Movement.
Scottsdale school board will consider about $200,000 for vocational-technical programs in high schools Tuesday night. New Project Invest an insurance lab will be housed at Coronado High School costing $21,362, with federal funding for 1976 77 and local top ups if needed. Jonathan Haas of Scottsdale complains a Chamber of Commerce forum for District 28 House Republicans failed to invite him and omit him from coverage. The chamber manager apologized calling it an oversight after a volunteer used an old candidate list.

The district employs around 1,200 teachers across 20 elementary and 5 high schools, with about 800 at elementary level.

About 170 demonstrators were arrested during an antinuclear protest at the construction site of a 1.6 billion plant in Exeter. They faced arraignment on charges of criminal trespass and contempt of court stemming from a Superior Court order barring access to the site without authorization.
