About 600 Viet Cong using improvised grenades overran a small American South Vietnamese outpost 20 miles south of Da Nang killing 34 defenders including nine Marines a Seabee and 24 PF troops. Marines conducted a DMZ sweep with no contact and redeployed to Con Thien.

Scottsdale boy 6 struck by car while bicycling

A six year old Scottsdale boy, Jon Grubbs, 6, was hit by a car while riding a bicycle from a private driveway onto Roosevelt. He was admitted in satisfactory condition to Scottsdale Baptist Hospital. The driver was Roy Wilkin son, 25, of 421 West Sixth Street. No citations were issued.
