Forces Kill 285 Communists in DMZ Drive to Ben Hai River
U S and South Vietnamese forces killed at least 285 Communists in heavy fighting that extended to the Ben Hai river near the DMZ. A South Vietnamese advance led by U S tanks and aided by helicopter gunships and planes killed 215 troops Thursday as they moved through the southern half of the DMZ toward the river that divides North and South Vietnam.

Injuries Minor in Two Car Crash in Scottsdale
A 36 year old Mesa man, Lawrence Parker of 638 W University, suffered minor injuries in a two car crash at Roosevelt and Hayden roads. Parker was cited for failure to control. The other driver, William Richardson, 18, of 8517 N 48th Place, was not injured. Police reported the incident occurred about 8 45 p.m.

Blast at Louisiana Army Plant Kills 2. Injures 4
A mushroom-like explosion on a bomb loading line at the Louisiana Ammunition Plant in Minden killed two workers and injured four others. Secondary detonations continued four hours after the blast as fires were brought under control. The dead were Jesse H. Busch of Bossier City and Dorothy Montgomery of Heflin.
