Cuban refugees escape to Florida in stolen AN-2 plane
Fourteen Cuban men women and children fled Cuba for the United States aboard a stolen bright yellow AN-2 crop duster. They landed at Homestead Airport near radar avoidance tactics and surrendered weapons they carried. Immigration officials awaited processing as aviation authorities confirmed the theft.

Mishaps injure 3 in two Scottsdale accidents
Three people were hurt in two separate crashes on Wednesday. John Gottbrecht, 16, was injured after falling from the hood of a friend’s car driven by Dennis Norton, 16, as it backed from a driveway on 2010 N 87th St. No citations were issued. Roderick Register, 19, and Dianne Sola, 17, sustained injuries in a collision at 82nd Street and Camelback Road and were treated and released from Scottsdale Baptist Hospital.
