Bronze Star awarded to Sgt Dennis Kontz for Vietnam heroism
In Vietnam on June 19 Sgt Dennis Kontz 21 received the Bronze Star with V device for heroism at Fire Support Base Washington Tay Ninh. He moved forward under enemy fire firing a machine gun and held his position aiding in the defeat of the attacking force. Kontz has served 17 months in the Army and five months in Vietnam. His wife Susan and his parents live in Arizona.

Tempe Woman Hurt in Scottsdale Car Collision
A Tempe woman was treated and released from Scottsdale Baptist Hospital after a two car collision on rain slicked streets in Scottsdale. Police said Fred A. Rhoades, 50, of Nogales, was southbound when the other driver failed to recall details. the victim could not remember the incident and was cited for failure to control her vehicle.
