Planning Group Denies Rezoning For Thrift City
The Scottsdale planning commission rejected a rezoning for 11 of 40 acres at the northwest corner of McDowell and Scottsdale roads to allow a Thrift City store. Residents and opponents argued against commercial expansion, citing master-plan conflicts and traffic effects, while the panel favored keeping residential zoning and questioned strip development. The ruling was nonbinding as the area lacks city jurisdiction and no county rezoning opinion was sought.
