Scottsdale Plans To Intervene In Sales Tax Suit
Scottsdale will intervene in a lawsuit to force the state tax commission to pay cities extra state sales tax revenue for July. It could be worth $10 000 to the city, City Manager Bob Mc Nutt said. Phoenix Tucson and Tempe back the suit arguing July payments should be based on a 10 percent city share of state tax. The money came from June sales, the county says, and cannot be distributed under a July 1 law granting cities 25 percent of state collections. The cities contend the law applies to revenue received by the state and the time of sale should not apply.
