Senate freezes home tax values at 1975 levels
The Arizona State Senate approved a bill freezing property tax valuations on homes at 1975 levels by a 23 to 7 vote and sent it to the House amid mixed defenses. Critics argued the measure fails to curb taxes while supporters, led by sponsor A V Hardt, called it overdue though not as strong as a full homestead exemption. A separate bill clearing pharmacist price advertising and allowing some generic drug use passed 18 to 12, praised as a consumer aid but cautioned as potentially risky by opponents.
