Scottsdale officials face a 1.1 million shortfall between 22.1 million in proposed expenditures and 20 million in expected revenue for 1975-76. More than 200 applicants filled two Coronado High School classrooms on Saturday for three police assistant openings. Townsend noted that narcotics squad hires in July may create three officer positions, with some assistants advancing only via lateral transfers. Pay scales differ: assistants $611 to $780 monthly. officers $842 to $1,075.
