Pima Road right of way dispute stalls improvement project
A city effort to widen Pima Road between Thomas and McDowell is halted as a rights of way issue unsettles progress. Mayor Bud Tims Deputy City Manager Marc Stragier and about 30 property owners met with tribal attorney Richard Wilks who urged compensation for about 40 feet on the east side. The Salt River Indian community argues the BIA agreement was never formally executed and seeks reappointment of the right of way to the tribe. The city supports maintaining good relations while promising full disclosure of future plans and enhancing traffic flow off Alma School and Agency Roads.
