Burglaries Net About $325 In Local Thefts
Police report two burglaries yesterday yielding about $325. Thieves pried open Ray Maro's International Hair Stylists on Indiana School Rd with a pry bar or large screwdriver, taking a silver bracelet and $175 in cash. Sutter's Gold Bar was entered between 7 and 6 am. a coin machine was broken and $150 stolen. No arrests yet.

State may lose 6 million highway funds over beauty laws
Arizona may lose six million dollars in federal highway funds next fiscal year because no state laws require roadway beautification. Transportation Secretary Boyd extended the deadline to January 1, 1969, but said no second delay is needed. Fr. Schmid seeks new trial in Tucson murders
Charles Schmid's attorney said he would petition the Arizona state Supreme Court for a new trial based on an interview with a prison inmate. The interview suggests another person killed Gretchen Fritz and Wendy Fritz. Schmid had been convicted of first degree murder in those 1966 slayings and pleaded guilty to second degree murder in Aileen Rowe's death.

Pipe worker burned by crane contact in Scottsdale
Manuel Inguez, 33, of 3539 W Monte Vista, suffered third degree electrical burns to his right arm when a crane boom touched a live overhead line while he attempted to unhook a cable during sewer line work for Wittman Contractors.
