Navajo Nation inaugurates new tribal chairman and council
In Window Rock Arizona the Navajo Nation swore in a new tribal chairman and 72 council members in a ceremony attended by two state governors two US senators and two congressmen. A 19 million dollar budget for the year relies largely on oil leases and royalties though per capita income remains below the US average. The 92 000 member tribe faces poverty ignorance disease and hunger as it enters a new era with renewed self governance and economic potential.
