Bypass planning for Scottsdale roads faces tough limits

Scottsdale Assistant City Planning Director Bill Walton told the Scottsdale Women's Council that bypassing downtown traffic through 68th Street and Miller Road faces serious issues. He warned turning 68th into a multi lane corridor would destroy single family homes and that right of way is insufficient to shield residential use. He praised open space preservation for Indian Bend Wash and urged coordinated planning with the Salt River Indian Reservation. He noted high rise construction may be needed for year round support.
