Wall Street drifted in a mixed pattern as traders waited for President Carter's energy message. The Dow rose 0.17 to 947.93 at mid afternoon while volume on the NYSE reached 12.07 million shares. Gains led by weekly rally momentum, but activity slowed ahead of anticipated energy proposals.
U S Rep Barry Goldwater Jr will headline the 1977 Honeywell Computer Security and Privacy Symposium, addressing a Supreme Court ruling delaying banks from protecting citizens bank records. Jerome Lobel notes 20 officials from government and industry join sessions on security and privacy since 1976. Other speakers include Eldred Nelson Jack Osborn and Robert Goldstein. Gustavo Romero Kolbeck, director general of the Bank of Mexico, reports $1 billion redeposited after the peso devaluation with abroad funds leading the return. He cites $200 million more from cautious savers and expects stronger tourism, raw material sales, and petroleum exports to lift 1977 earnings while inflation cools slightly.
New York AP reports the American Stock Exchange list shows stocks and warrants that rose for Monday Trading included KinArk Co Mamm Mt Am Precis Novo Corp Poloron Pdt ComPsyc Logicon Medfield Cordon Intl with modest gains around 3 percent and single share prices near 14.0 11.8 and 11.7.
Today's closing quotations show London gold at 150.50 dollars an ounce, May coffee at 3.03, cocoa 1.79, sugar 11.5 cents per pound, and IMM June gold at 152.50. Other items include silver 4.862, copper 0.657, wheat 2.694, corn 2.584, soybeans 10.235, soybean meal 297.80, soybean oil 30.2 cents, live cattle 41.65, live hogs 37.77, pork bellies 61.57, and cotton 74.9 cents per pound.
