Pryor Won't Fast-Track Clemency for Cummins Inmate Tyger
Gov. David Pryor said no immediate clemency for Alvin Tyger, citing Arkansas Pardons and Paroles Board recommendations. Tyger, serving 10 years for burglary and grand larceny, spent a week in solitary after a hostile attitude and was moved back to the hoe squad. He surrendered last year in hopes of clemency and had been living under an assumed name in Tucson.

Budget shows 12 to 14 percent rise for a family of four
UPI reports the 1974 autumn budget study by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. A four member urban family would need 12 to 14 percent more income to maintain a middle lifestyle from 1973 to 1974 with taxes rising and food costs driving the increase. The low and high lifestyle levels also show notable gains in housing, clothing, and transportation as budgets climb and tax effects unfold into 1975.
