Papago Parkway Farms Improvement Association Forms

A new Papago Parkway Civic Improvement Association was started by local homeowners with Scottsdale and Tempe officials at Supai School. A steering committee was named including Don Swallow chair man Gene Outcault treasurer Jack Chadwick secretary and others. The group will meet again next Thursday at Chadwick home to plan actions as city plans for street lighting are outlined with limited first year coverage and local crime and traffic context noted.

Twenty Scottsdale youths face juvenile court action

Twenty boys in the Greater Scottsdale area face juvenile court action over a string of car thefts burglaries and vehicle thefts the Maricopa County Sheriff's office reported Two youths were apprehended in a stolen car at Papago Lanes leading to the investigation of the remaining eighteen Some are in elementary school others in high school School officials said no action would be taken until juvenile hearings conclude Nine car thefts and at least three burglaries were linked to the group All the boys were released to their parents after questioning.

Arizona Steel Mill Planned Near Parker

Parker reports a plan to build an iron ore processing plant that could expand into a $75 million steel mill employing 1,000 workers. Elmer C. von Glahn of Golden Gate Mining Co. announced a 10 year contract to mine crush and ship 50,000 tons monthly from a site about 20 miles east of Parker. A $400,000 crusher plant will hire 70 workers within two months, with a new corporation to fund the mill via New York stock sales.

Scottsdale High Students Start Their Western Film Project

A group from Scottsdale High plans a three day western film project with a budget of 128 dollars. Students will scrounge props borrow a camera and promote developing the film with help from Edward Sandling and a German exchange student filming on a Cavecreek locale.
