Scottsdale plans to seek money in the 1961-62 city budget for 10 to 20 acres of park land. Clarence Allan estimated about $50,000 needed for property, while the board kept swimming pool fees and issued season tickets with a $5 city residence differential.
Robert Cockrill of the Arizona Democratic Committee calls a liquor license to Ed ward Hoyt Pinaire for Pinaries at Fashion Square a smoke screen and criticizes licenses for Goldwater's executives. He cites a 30 mile north 2 mile east location and links to Goldwater family members.
Paris UPI Kennedy pledged the United States would do everything within its power to enhance NATO unity and strength. Charles Terry owner of a British store chain plans to launch a soap called Brand X. Donald Goulden of a London company says he will sue Terry. Terry counters that he will sue the soap companies for claims their product is better.
The Arcadia annexation dispute remains in court as residents challenge Scottsdale’s recent annexation of part of the Arcadia district. An engineer testified 12 map discrepancies show boundaries off by up to an eighth of a mile, with witnesses to testify on petition signatures and city charter legality.
GOP leaders announced a May 1 meeting with former President Dwight D. Eisenhower at his Gettysburg farm to discuss policy and possibly play golf. House GOP Leader Halleck framed the plan at a news conference after the weekly leadership meeting. Eisenhower, on a Palm Springs golf vacation, has been a frequent target of Democratic criticism over his golf.

In Montfermeil near Paris a group of Algerian extremists fought police in a hospital corridor aiming at a rival Moslem. Two were killed including a police sergeant and fourteen injured, among them two officers, four patients, a hospital attendant and seven others, amid a week of violence and stalled peace talks.
Roy Gallagher, 40, infirm with active tuberculosis, was found guilty of first degree murder in a case involving the death of Mrs. Pauline Stephens at a Tempe gravel pit last November. Gallagher wore a mask and sat in a wheelchair throughout the 214 week trial, isolated from jurors and spectators as the verdict was read.

Dr. R Bernard Finch 43 and Carole Tre goff 24 were given life terms with possibility of parole after seven years for the July 18 1959 killing of Barbara Jean Finch 33 in Los Angeles Their jury spared them the death penalty and they vowed to appeal if motions for new trial are denied at sentencing on April 17 The couple expressed tearful relief and said they will fight the conviction while awaiting parole decisions From the courtroom Carole spoke of being an old woman when released and Finch expressed resolve to continue the fight
Adolf Eichmann has been transferred to a heavily guarded top-floor cell in a central Jerusalem building to face trial next week for the murder of six million Jews. Beit Haam Center will host both jail and courtroom as Robert Servatius arrives for last-minute talks amid anticipated lengthy proceedings.
Fifteen farm workers riding in a converted truck were injured when the vehicle collided with a pickup at an intersection northwest of Phoenix. Most suffered minor cuts and bruises with none in critical condition. the truck swerved to avoid a stalled vehicle at Litchfield and Waddell roads.
Guests at a Gold Coast hotel in Beach Florida reported breakfast included ready made screwdrivers crafted from orange juice and vodka. A bus boy accidentally took two gallons from the refrigerator but officials said no one was plastered. One guest praised the orange juice while another left after three glasses.
Labor Secretary Arthur J. Goldberg warned that unemployment may rise above 8.5 million by next April if current rates persist and automation displaces workers. He said 7.3 million new jobs must be created in the year to cut unemployment to four percent, while 1.8 million would enter and 1.8 million displaced by efficiency gains.
